Pacific County is named after the Pacific Ocean. The county seat was Oysterville until the late 1800s when it changed to South Bend. South Bend is known also as the Oyster Capital of the World.
The county's largest city is Raymond. The Long Beach Peninsula is home to a new national park, two historic lighthouses, renowned restaurants, cranberry bogs, and oyster farms. The "Cranberry Coast" area, named for its thousands of acres of cranberry bogs, stretches from Grays Harbor at the bustling northern tip of Westport, through the beachside community of Grayland and to the southern coastline of Tokeland. There, the Willapa Bay opens to the towns of Raymond and South Bend.
